Police detain woman for stabbing man with whom she was in an unregistered marriage

Officers of the Batumi City Division of the Adjara Police Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested a foreign national born in 1988, identified as M.S., on charges of attempted premeditated murder committed under aggravating circumstances against a family member. The information was released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The investigation established that in Batumi, the suspect inflicted stab wounds to the chest area of a man born in 1991, a foreign national identified as K.I., with whom she was in an unregistered marital relationship, using a knife.

“The injured man was taken to a medical facility to receive appropriate medical care.

Police arrested M.S. as the accused at the scene shortly after the incident.

Law enforcement officers seized the weapon used in the crime - a knife - as material evidence.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 19-109 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries a penalty of 16 to 20 years or life imprisonment,” the statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs reads.
