MIA - Three people abused police officers in Lagodekhi - the accused are detained

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has arrested three people in Kakheti on charges of group resistance and violence against the police, the press service of the ministry reports.

Law enforcement officers stopped three people while performing their professional duties, during which the accused resisted the police officers and inflicted both verbal and physical abuse.

“Employees of the Lagodekhi District Division of the Kakheti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested three individuals on charges of group resistance and violence against the police: N.Sh., born in 2001, and previously convicted individuals: I.K., born in 1990, and L.I., born in 1994.

The investigation established that on January 27 of this year, in one of the villages of the Lagodekhi municipality, law enforcement officers stopped three individuals for inspection while performing their professional duties, during which the accused resisted the police officers and verbally and physically abused them.

As a result of the aforementioned violent act, four employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs received various types of injuries.

As a result of the investigative actions conducted on the case, law enforcement officers detained all three individuals.

The investigation is underway under Article 353 of the Criminal Code, which provides for imprisonment for a term of up to 8 years,” reads the information.
