Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA): A person has been arrested for physically and sexually abusing a family member and threatening to kill them - as a result of these actions, the victim attempted suicide
Police in Tbilisi have arrested a person accused of committing several serious crimes against a family member.
According to the ministry, the suspect systematically subjected a person born in 2005 to physical violence, threatened them with death, and committed sexual abuse. As a result of the suspect’s actions, the victim attempted suicide.
“Employees of the Old Tbilisi Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested S.Zh., born in 2007, on charges of violence against a family member, rape, inhuman treatment, threats, and damage to property.
The investigation established that the accused systematically physically abused and threatened to kill K.Sh., born in 2005, and also subjected them to sexual violence. As a result of the actions carried out by the accused, K.Sh. attempted suicide.
Law enforcement officers arrested S.Zh. as a suspect following operational measures and investigative actions.
The investigation is being conducted under Articles 11¹-137, 11¹-151, 11¹-187, 144³, and 126¹ of the Criminal Code, which provide for a penalty of up to 13 years of imprisonment,” the statement says.
