Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested two wanted individuals who were charged, along with the former Chair of the Chokhatauri Municipal Council, with group violence against a police officer.

“Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested L.Ch., born in 2006, and D.S., born in 1997, on charges of group violence against a police officer. The investigation established that on January 27 of this year, in one of the restaurants located in Ozurgeti, following a verbal dispute, the accused jointly assaulted a police officer. Shortly after the incident, the police arrested the Chair of the Chokhatauri Municipal Council, Davit Sharashidze, at the scene, while two other participants in the crime fled the scene. As a result of operational-search measures and investigative actions carried out within the framework of the criminal case, law enforcement officers arrested L.Ch. and D.S. in Tbilisi on January 31 as defendants. The investigation is being conducted under Article 126, Part 1, subparagraph ‘b’ of the Criminal Code of Georgia,” the statement says.
