Tamar Mearakishvili allegedly collaborated with Georgian intelligence services, according to a statement from the so-called State Security Committee of occupied Tskhinvali (“KGB”).
“Mearakishvili reportedly transmitted information about politicians, law enforcement officers, Russian military personnel, their deployment locations, and movements of Russian military equipment. She secretly recorded conversations with officials (individuals carrying confidential information) for later use as kompromat, collected information, and established intimate connections to carry out diversionary plans,” the statement said.
The statement claims that Mearakishvili was allegedly “recruited by Georgian intelligence services for intelligence and sabotage activities.”
“All of T.A. Mearakishvili’s actions were coordinated by foreign intelligence services and served only the interests of the Georgian side. The State Security Committee of the Republic of South Ossetia identified many of her contacts, including the Head of the Georgian State Security Service M. Mdinareadze, former Minister for Reintegration P. Zakareishvili, former Defense Minister I. Alasania, and other representatives of Georgian intelligence and governmental bodies,” the statement added.
The committee further claimed that “the second stage of Mearakishvili’s diversionary activities involved penetrating governmental, administrative, legislative, and law enforcement bodies of the Republic of South Ossetia.”
“The State Security Committee of the Republic of South Ossetia will pursue the case against Tamila Mearakishvili to the end and hold accountable her accomplices both within and outside the territory of the Republic,” the statement concluded.
