The new learning environment introduced at the Business and Technology University, BTU AI, is based on a fundamentally new approach. Traditionally, students have to adapt themselves to the learning material. BTU’s new platform, however, adapts to the user’s needs, making the learning process more effective and easier.
“BTU AI is not a traditional online learning platform, a repository of texts, or a system that automatically answers questions. It is a learning environment that turns education into dialogue, research, and a process of thinking. The system helps users master complex material in a simple, understandable way tailored to their needs,” explains Mikheil Batiashvili, Founder and Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Business and Technology University, who speaks in detail about the new learning environment.
Mr. Mikheil, what does the new learning environment BTU AI created at BTU include?
For years, the Business and Technology University has been actively leading the teaching and development of artificial intelligence. The university operates important laboratories and acceleration programs. One of the standout projects launched several years ago is BTU AI. It is actively involved in the development of various fields, including the analytical processing of business and technology issues. We collaborate with specific media outlets and provide them with analytical materials prepared by artificial intelligence.
However, one of our main objectives was the effective integration of artificial intelligence into the educational system. Traditionally, every student has to adapt to the learning process, lectures, theoretical materials, or research. BTU AI has changed this reality. Now, the learning material adapts to the student.
What specific benefits will students receive?
Everyone has different learning abilities and paces of comprehension. BTU AI is focused precisely on individual capabilities. In the system, you can upload a lecture or theoretical material, and artificial intelligence - based on your learning style - will provide you with processed content, offer examples, and more. It learns how you absorb information and offers an appropriate pace and style.
This program was tested over several months, and we can confidently say that it works quite effectively. It explains even the most complex books in a simple, engaging, and understandable way, which motivates students to gain more knowledge. The system structures the material, discusses examples, and even asks questions itself to test the acquired knowledge.
How is BTU AI different from other artificial intelligence systems?
This program is fully tailored to the learning process and the individual student. While there are other very powerful systems, BTU AI is focused on a narrow specialization, which significantly contributes to improving the quality of education. Artificial intelligence delivers the material to students in a structured and clear way, exactly at the level they need. This is a unique opportunity to ensure that nothing remains unclear in the learning process.
How can people who do not study or teach at BTU use the system?
Our artificial intelligence is hosted on ChatGPT’s OpenAI platform. It is open, and anyone can use this technology completely free of charge. Our goal is to make education accessible to everyone, because we want to have as many educated and highly intellectual people in the country as possible.
In general, what is your vision regarding the integration of artificial intelligence into the learning environment?
When integrating artificial intelligence, we often encounter two extremes: excessive expectations or the complete opposite stance. Our vision is as pragmatic as possible. In the teaching and learning process, the student and the professor are central. Artificial intelligence is a tool, just like the internet or various software solutions. It is a crucial technological advancement for achieving better education. The human being remains at the center, and our technology simply makes this process easier.
Who are BTU’s international partners in the development of artificial intelligence projects?
We have many international partners, including Microsoft, Google, and ChatGPT. German support is also very important to us. The AI academic program at our university was developed with the assistance of the German side. Students of this program have the opportunity to receive a dual diploma - Georgian and German. All of this serves one goal: to ensure that people interested in knowledge receive everything they need to become successful leaders.
