GTU Professor Iuri Janiashvili: My children, let us think about the step we are taking! Will Georgia’s history forgive us? I doubt it - a few people cannot sit under a bush and pass a verdict of the end

“My children, remember that you cannot make ‘deals’ with history! History writes in black and white. History is immortal, so let us think carefully about the step we are taking. Will the history of Georgia forgive us? I very much doubt it. The great Ilia said that ‘the decline of a nation begins when we forget the past.’ The history of ‘GTU’ is a past - and a beautiful one. A few people cannot sit under a bush and deliver a death sentence to it,” said Iuri Janiashvili, a professor at the Technical University, while addressing a rally held near the university.

According to the professor, “history is immortal, therefore we must reflect on the step we are taking.”

For reference, a protest is underway near the Georgian Technical University. Professors and students continue to oppose the merger of Tbilisi State University and the Technical University.
