Education Minister Givi Mikanadze will meet today with representatives of Tbilisi State University and the Georgian Technical University

The Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Givi Mikanadze, will meet today with representatives of Tbilisi State University (TSU) and the Georgian Technical University (GTU).

At the meeting, which will take place in the second half of the day, the parties will discuss the issue of merging Tbilisi State University and the Georgian Technical University.

According to the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician Davit Gurgenidze, at today’s meeting the minister will listen to the views of the academic community, work toward consolidating a common position, and then present it to the Prime Minister.

Earlier, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth Zviad Gabisonia held a working meeting with representatives of Tbilisi State University and the Georgian Technical University. The meeting was attended by lecturers, professors, and academicians.

Consultations with representatives of the academic field began after the decision to merge Tbilisi State University and the Georgian Technical University became known on January 29.
