Kakha Kaladze - At the externally funded protests, they demanded the repeal of the Transparency Law, today they are telling us to share our experience

Do you remember, during the externally funded protests, there was talk of repealing the Transparency Law - today they are telling us to share our experience, - Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated.

According to him, the said law was important for the country.

“Let’s start with how important the said law was for our country. Regardless of what kind of attack, insult, slander there was. Do you remember then, during the externally funded protest, there was talk of repealing the said law, no one had an argument as to why the said bill obstructed the European path, democratic processes. Today they are telling us to share our experience,” - said Kakha Kaladze.

According to him, financing of the country’s internal politics by external forces should be unacceptable for all countries.

"All normal, developed countries would act the way the Georgian government acted. It is categorically unacceptable for the country's internal politics to be financed from outside. This is direct interference in our activities. Funds were coming in from various non-governmental organizations, governments of various countries were financing supposedly good projects. In reality, the funds were going into politics, the funds were being spent on coups, there were numerous attempts to organize a revolution, to split society, to fight against the church. All of this is categorically unacceptable. We will do everything to make everything transparent, so that the society knows where the funds are coming from and what they are being spent on," Kakha Kaladze noted.
