National Environmental Agency issues weather advisory

According to the National Environmental Agency, from February 8 to the morning of February 10, precipitation is expected in western Georgia, in some areas heavy. On February 9, strong westerly winds will blow across most of the country.

In addition, in high-mountain regions, snow is expected—sometimes heavy—along with fog, blizzards, and an avalanche risk.

“Due to heavy snowfall, blizzards, reduced visibility, and avalanche danger, movement may be restricted on certain sections of the road network.

The expected precipitation may cause a significant rise in water levels in rivers of western Georgia and may trigger or reactivate landslide and mudflow processes in hilly and mountainous areas (hazard level: moderate),” the agency stated.
