Kaja Kallas recently stated that she is reading various literature in order to appear smarter - apparently, she also read the literature of this region and has seen where Georgia is located, what critical importance it has in connecting the West and the East, and her mind has been enlightened, - Levan Makhashvili, the chairman of the Parliament's European Integration Committee, told journalists while assessing the European Commission's study.

According to him, this study is a self-admission that some politicians may make loud statements, but in the end, when we are dealing with reality, no one can ignore Georgia and its geography.

“Kaja Kallas recently stated that she is reading various literature in order to appear smarter - it seems that she also read the literature of this region and saw where Georgia is located, what a critical importance it has for connecting the West and the East, and her mind has been enlightened.

Of course, this is an important and significant document in many directions. First of all, to show that there may be many alternatives and there may be attempts in different directions, but when it comes to connecting the West and the East, Georgia has a unique role and place in this transport corridor. It is welcome that the European Commission has shown this recognition to the public. This is a self-recognition that some politicians may make loud statements, but ultimately when we are dealing with reality, no one can ignore Georgia and its geography.

Georgia is a constructive and reliable partner for everyone for whom the development of that transport corridor is important. Our country is doing everything for the development of this corridor and we are ready to a constructive policy and approach, let us fulfill this key role honestly, taking into account our obligations," said Levan Makhashvili.

For information, the study of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighborhood Policy states that Georgia has one of the important roles on the road from China to Europe.

Within the framework of the study, the Anaklia deep-sea port is given great importance within the framework of the expansion of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). The study also discusses the Black Sea submarine cable project.

According to the document, the modernization of the ports of Batumi and Poti in Georgia, as well as the restoration of the Anaklia port, are of strategic importance in order to be able to transport and manage heavy equipment required for the submarine cable and renewable energy projects.

In addition, the document lists projects recommended for implementation by the World Bank and the European Commission, including the Kutaisi bypass, the logistics center in Kutaisi, the Kumisi logistics center, the Anaklia deep-sea port railway connection, etc.
