We share a common effort for peace and see the devastating consequences of war in Europe. This clearly demonstrates the importance of a responsible and cautious policy aimed at preventing further instability and ensuring sustainable peace, - Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili said at the press conference in Hungary, together with Hungarian Foreign and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó.
Maka Botchorishvili said that relations between sovereign states should not be determined from Brussels.
“Thank you for your warm hospitality in this wonderful city. It is always a pleasure to visit this city and meet with you and discuss important issues. Our countries are not only friends, but we are united by the strategic goal that we have discussed. We are united by a common effort for peace and common values, on which the European Union was founded and which are now under great threat across Europe.
First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Hungary for its strong support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Protecting sovereignty is particularly important in today’s challenging world. Both the Georgian and Hungarian governments are clearly aware of the risks that come with an attack on sovereignty and the need to firmly defend it, despite the frequent criticism we receive when defending our sovereign rights. Joint efforts to protect our sovereignty are vital for our common future and mutually beneficial.
We also share a common effort for peace and see the devastating consequences of war in Europe. This clearly demonstrates the importance of responsible and cautious policies aimed at preventing further instability and ensuring sustainable peace.
Georgia strongly supports peace-oriented efforts and policies. Our governments are united by the protection of traditional values, which is also very important.
We are united by a common, firm determination to uphold the conservative values that are essential for the development of a healthy and sustainable future for our nations. This is not an easy task in today's world, and we often face unfair treatment for our strong, principled positions. Relations between sovereign states should not be determined by Brussels.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Hungary for its strong support for Georgia's European aspirations. You are a courageous minister who boldly opposes the instrumentalization of the issue of EU integration. And using punishment as a weapon against the European aspirations and interests of our country,” said Maka Botchorishvili.
According to her, relations between Georgia and Hungary are developing very well - “they are already very solid and strong.”
“We have established high-level cooperation at the level of prime ministers and we have meetings every year, which determine cooperation in various directions. We make efforts to cooperate in the direction of common interests. It is very important to work constantly and cooperate constantly to protect our sovereignty. Not everyone likes this, but it is our common interest and its protection is very important, because it is related to our security, prosperity, and it is related to our future, the next generation. This is how we see it. We share the opinion of our Hungarian friends. Our cooperation is even stronger when we have common values, interests, and common ideas. Of course, peace is very important and very close to Georgian thinking, we understand how important it is to protect our security and the peaceful development of the country. This is what we are fighting for, this is what we stand for and we are grateful to our Hungarian friends, they also share this idea and its importance, how important it is to fight for peace and work towards peace in Europe. Of course, many things can strengthen our friendship and cooperation and we will continue to work in this direction," said Maka Bochorishvili.
According to her, the partnership between Hungary and Georgia serves the best interests of both countries and contributes to the broader security and prosperity of Europe.
“I would like to briefly touch on our bilateral agenda. Relations between our two countries are developing very well. Our governments cooperate very well in various areas. Our partnership serves the best interests of both countries and contributes to the broader security and prosperity of Europe. Georgia’s role as a bridge connecting Europe and Asia is irreplaceable, and only through joint efforts and cooperation can our common interests be effectively protected. I would also like to thank you for the support of Georgian civil servants. Last fall, about 50 civil servants had the opportunity to share their experience with Hungary, for which I personally thank you. Our goal is to further strengthen and deepen our strategic partnership. This cooperation is based on a solid foundation and is reinforced by high-level intergovernmental cooperation. We look forward to the visit of the Hungarian government to Georgia. Once again, I wish you success, thank you for your friendship, support and excellent cooperation,” – said Maka Botchorishvili.
