Nika Gvaramia to leave prison tomorrow

The leader of the Coalition for Change, Nika Gvaramia, will leave Rustavi Penitentiary No. 12 tomorrow, February 12.

His 8-month prison term is about to expire.

Nika Gvaramia was sentenced to 8 months in prison on July 1, 2025, for failing to appear before the temporary investigative commission of the Parliament. He was charged under Article 349 of the Criminal Code, which refers to “failure to comply with the request of the temporary investigative commission of the Parliament of Georgia.”

Gvaramia was granted bail of 30,000 GEL as a preventive measure, which he failed to pay within the time limit established by law. After the term expired, the bail was replaced with imprisonment. He did not attend the trial and went himself to the Rustavi Prison.
