Croatia’s President: Barriers are being imposed on Georgia, it is being placed in a moral dilemma, accused of being a Moscow agent - this is moral blackmail; they are blackmailing the country, forcing its hands

During a joint briefing with Mikheil Kavelashvili, Croatian President Zoran Milanović, who is visiting Georgia, stated:

"Barriers are being imposed on the country, it is being placed in a moral dilemma, accused of being a Moscow agent. This is moral blackmail. They are blackmailing the country, forcing its hands," he said.

He also noted that Georgia is developing successfully on all fronts and shows high growth indicators.

"I agree that the growth rate is the most important indicator, reflecting economic activity, trade, and so on. In this regard, Georgia is successful and has high growth. It is a country that faced economic difficulties and barriers, but through its efforts, it has been successful economically, and we must support this - not unconditionally, because nothing is unconditional, but we must support this fact.

Barriers are being imposed on the country, it is being placed in a moral dilemma, accused of being a Moscow agent. This is moral blackmail. They are blackmailing the country, forcing its hands and engaging in blackmail. That is why I came to Georgia - to say this. I came with a broad delegation. Economists are with me, representing leading businesses in Croatia. They are very interested in this market, Georgia’s market, the Caucasus region.

My solidarity and the solidarity of all Croatians with Georgia is beyond question. I believe that peacefully you will be able to restore territorial integrity. We stand by you even on an emotional level, because we also had huge problems, but our adversary was weaker than yours. I don’t think this will be interpreted as pro-Russian agitation, because anything is possible in today’s world. I am here today and tomorrow with my friends. I have known some of them for years. I had not previously met Mikheil Kavelashvili; I have now, and I am confident our relations will be at a high level, based on mutual respect.

A state and a people that had Shota Rustaveli in the 12th century, while at the same time the most advanced European countries did not have such levels of literature and art - Georgia deserves understanding, support, and that is why I am here."
