“This is a country that does not have diplomatic relations with Moscow, yet it is accused of being a Russian agent - I just cannot understand this,” said Croatian President Zoran Milanović at a joint briefing with Mikheil Kavelashvili following their face-to-face meeting.
According to President Milanović, foreign ministers from EU countries participated in rallies in Georgia, which he considers unacceptable:
"It is very pleasant to be here today and tomorrow. I came as a friend to a dear host. I came to express solidarity. I see this as a gesture of solidarity, although very often in past years solidarity was cynical. But I came here to express Georgia solidarity in its efforts, to maintain territorial integrity, and I give you my full support in this. Georgia has been in a difficult position over the past years, and we must keep this in mind when assessing Georgia’s approach to closer ties with the European Union. Unfortunately, the opposite is happening. Your country faces impossible dilemmas in a very cynical way. As Mr. Kavelashvili says, this is done by Brussels’ European bureaucracy. They cannot speak in my name, and I will not allow them to speak in Croatia’s name. That is why I personally came here. To be absolutely honest, there was no visit from the EU in 2025. I apologize for these statements as well, but it is madness. I wanted to come to a country that is accused of being pro-Russian, pro-Putin, but I have other experience. I may be wrong, but this is a country that does not have diplomatic relations with Moscow and yet is accused of being a Russian agent - I cannot understand this. That is why I decided to come personally to see what is happening."
"I saw ministers from other EU countries come here to participate in rallies and join the opposition. I wanted to wrap my head around that - how would I feel if politicians came to my country, to my capital, to the central square, whoever they were? I don’t care about political sides in Georgia. Neither side should be placed in that position. But the idea of exerting political pressure on a small, isolated country that already has difficulties with the EU is unacceptable to me," - stated by Zoran Milanović, as translated and reported by “Imedi.”
