The protest march participants have arrived at the “A” building of Ilia State University.
Along with other participants of the rally, the march participants were met at the site by the Rector of Ilia State University, Nino Doborjginidze.
The protest participants brought banners to the site: “The university is autonomous”, “What does the government know about knowledge?”
In addition, shouts can be heard: “For education, to the end”, “Autonomy for universities”.
During the march, the protest participants were also encouraged with sirens from cars.
The demonstrators are protesting the decisions made by the Ministry of Education regarding the distribution of quotas in state universities.
Earlier, the rally was held in Dedaeni Garden, where students and lecturers made speeches.
In addition, according to the organizers of today's demonstration, a protest will be held on February 16 near the Ministry of Education, where they will gather at 14:00.
For information, for the 2026-2027 academic year, the total number of students admitted to the programs at TSU was determined at 6650.
In the next academic year, 3880 admission places will be provided for the programs of the Georgian Technical University, while Ilia University will have the opportunity to admit a total of 300 students to the programs at the institution.
