Detective injured during the October 4 events: They started hitting my hands and feet, throwing bottles and tiles at me, they tore my uniform

"They started hitting my hands and feet, throwing bottles and tiles at me, they tore my uniform," – this is what detective Irakli Lursmanashvili stated during his questioning as a witness at the court hearing on the detention related to the events of October 4.

Lursmanashvili has the status of a victim in the case.

According to him, the people gathered near Atoneli Palace were physically quite well-prepared and aggressively disposed. According to the witness's testimony, the demonstrators were also armed with tear gas canisters.

"They started hitting my hands and feet, throwing bottles and tiles at me, they tore my uniform, and wherever I was going – toward the fence – I ended up on the opposite side. When I came to my senses, I was on the street that runs beside the palace. Several people came, including one girl and a boy who came and asked them to stop.

I received a wound in the body area, including in the chest area. My clothing, both the jacket and the T-shirt, were cut.

I received an injury on the back of my leg; on the first attempt, my wallet interfered, but on the next attempt, it caused the injury. My pants were cut in two places," – stated Lursmanashvili.

According to him, he was taken to the clinic, where the wound was treated, recommendations were given, and he was discharged from the clinic. According to the detective's testimony, he required 20 days for treatment.

The detective identified one of the accused – Genadi Kupreishvili – whom, according to him, physically assaulted him.

"This person is directly the one who, when I was trying to get away from him and the girl and boy were helping me, this person stepped aside, let me through, and then hit me from behind," – stated Lursmanashvili.

The accused Kupreishvili asked him a question about what features he recognized him by, to which the detective replied that the person was "short in stature and had short hair." The accused asked again if he had a beard, to which Lursmanashvili replied that he no longer remembered, "maybe he had a short beard."

The accused Kupreishvili asked him again if he was wearing a flag, to which the detective replied that he did not remember, but he remembered that he was wearing dark-colored clothing.

Testimony was also given in court by the habitoscopy expert Nugzar Talakhadze. Through habitoscopic expertise, he confirmed the presence of the accused Genadi Kupreishvili in a specific recording.
