“We often see how the European integration process is used by Brussels as a political instrument. We are glad that Slovakia opposes this approach and supports Georgia’s sincere desire for integration into the European Union,” – this was stated by Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili during a joint press conference with Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár.
According to her, Georgia is grateful for the support expressed by Slovakia and notes that the solidarity of friendly countries is essential on the path to integration into the European Union.
“Thank you for supporting Georgia’s European aspirations. Slovakia’s support is very important for our European integration process. We often see how the European integration process is used by Brussels as a political instrument. We are glad that Slovakia opposes this approach and supports Georgia’s sincere desire for integration into the European Union. In this process, the support of our friends is very important,” – stated Maka Bochorishvili.
The Minister emphasized that Georgia fully recognizes the importance of the sanctions regime and strives to ensure its effective implementation.
At the same time, according to Bochorishvili, there are cases when certain decisions are taken without a complete exchange of information, which may negatively affect Georgia–EU relations.
“Georgia is a country that does everything possible to prevent sanctions evasion through its territory. We cooperate very closely with the European side on these issues; nevertheless, we see steps being taken without due consideration of information and without information at all, which harms Georgia–European Union relations and harms the potential that exists between the two sides,” – stated Maka Bochorishvili.
