Irakli Kirtskhalia: Systemic crimes, calls, and actions will receive an appropriate and the strictest response under the law - We will close all the loopholes through which the collective Gigauri and Lomjaria, together with their masters, are looking for ways to bring in dirty money

According to the statement of the leader of the parliamentary majority, Irakli Kirtskhalia, the bill titled “Extremism against the Constitutional Order” draws a line between freedom of expression and extremist actions.

Kirtskhalia noted that systemic crimes and public calls - which, according to him, were repeatedly recorded even in live broadcasts - will receive an appropriate and severe legal response.

“This week Parliament will consider the legislative initiative related to grants, including making extremism against the constitutional order a criminally punishable act, thereby clearly distinguishing between freedom of expression and the extremism we have clearly witnessed in recent years. The crime will be punished by a fine, community service from 400 to 600 hours, or imprisonment for up to 3 years.

Every law that is initiated and takes its place in the Georgian legislative space serves the security of our country during the enormous challenges facing the entire world. If it were not for the wisdom of our society, we know what the state institutions were being threatened with and what was being prepared for our country. Therefore, systemic crimes, systemic calls, and subsequent actions - which we have repeatedly seen in live broadcasts - will receive an appropriate and the strictest response under our legislation,” - stated Kirtskhalia.

In response to the question why it became necessary to introduce amendments to the legislation concerning grants, Kirtskhalia answered that any step aimed at protecting the country’s sovereignty and security will be supported.

“Any law directed at protecting the sovereignty and security of our country - we will not allow it and we will close all those loopholes through which the collective Gigauri and Lomjaria, together with their masters, are searching for ways to somehow bring dirty money into our country,” - stated Kirtskhalia.
