Prosecutor's Office to declare Busa Zhvania wanted in connection with Niko Kvaratskhelia’s murder

The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia will declare a search for Besarion (Busa) Zhvania, the son of former Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania, in connection with the case of organizing a group premeditated murder of Nikoloz Kvaratskhelia.

As Tbilisi Prosecutor Giorgi Mikaia stated at a briefing held today, the Prosecutor's Office will apply to the court for the imposition of pre-trial detention on accused Besarion Zhvania within the time limit established by law.

“The Prosecutor’s Office will apply to the court within the time limit established by law for the imposition of pre-trial detention on accused Besarion Zhvania. Besarion Zhvania will be declared wanted in accordance with the procedure established by law.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia will file charges against Besarion Zhvania under Articles 25, 109, Part 2, Subparagraph “e” and Part 3, Subparagraph “g” of the Criminal Code of Georgia (as amended in 2021), which provides for a sentence of up to 20 years or life imprisonment,” Mikaia said.

According to him, the case of the premeditated murder of Nikoloz Kvaratskhelia was planned in the residential building belonging to Besarion Zhvania.

For information, the Prosecutor’s Office has solved the ordered murder of Nikoloz Kvaratskhelia. The agency has charged Guram Kakulia, Davit Kakulia and Besarion Zhvania with organizing a group premeditated murder.
