Andro Chichinadze - I am also leaving the Vaso Abashidze Theater - you are fighting in the wrong and difficult field, "friends", artists were and are the most dangerous people for those in power and will always be so

Actor Andro Chichinadze, convicted of organized group violence, is leaving the Vaso Abashidze Theater.

The above is written in Andro Chichinadze’s letter, which lawyer Tornike Migineishvili posted on social networks.

“I am also leaving the Vaso Abashidze Theater. With this symbolic text, I want to express solidarity and support for those people who themselves are an example of solidarity and friendship.

You are fighting a very wrong and difficult field, “friends”. Let’s look at history and we will easily understand that artists, by their civic position, were and are the most dangerous people for you and anyone in power. It will always be like this.

Before you and after you, the truth will be the same, and the word will always be preserved to tell this truth. Therefore, my advice is - fighting with people with the right values is unprofitable,” - writes Andro Chichinadze.

For information, some of the actors left the Vaso Abashidze New Theater in protest. The actors’ protest followed the removal of Andro Chichinadze’s banner from the facade of the Vaso Abashidze Theater. Andro Chichinadze’s banner was placed on the theater with the inscription: “Freedom to the prisoners of the system.”

According to available information, Andro Chichinadze’s banner was removed due to the filming of “Rustavi 2.”

Tbilisi City Court sentenced actor Andro Chichinadze, who was arrested on charges of participating in organized group violence, to 2 years in prison by Judge Nino Galustashvili.
