Maka Bochorishvili meets the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

Georgia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Bochorishvili, met with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, within the framework of the high-level segment of the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council.

According to them, the discussion focused on the security environment in Georgia's occupied territories and the need for peaceful resolution of the conflict.

"Within the framework of the high-level segment of the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council, Georgia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Bochorishvili, held a meeting with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk.

The conversation addressed the security environment in Georgia's occupied territories and the necessity of peaceful conflict resolution. The head of the Foreign Ministry emphasized the issue of maintaining the situation in the occupied territories high on the UN agenda at a high level. She also stressed the necessity of access for the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and other international monitoring mechanisms to the occupied territories.

The Minister noted that Georgia will once again present a resolution to the UN Human Rights Council titled 'Cooperation with Georgia.'

During the meeting, the discussion also touched on ongoing processes in Georgia and the security environment in the region. The parties expressed readiness to continue cooperation on important issues of human rights protection," - the information states.
