Kakha Kaladze on the sanctioning of "Imedi" and "POSTV": It means nothing to me what the UK considers or not - can you tell me what disinformation was spread by these television companies?

It means nothing to me what the UK considers or not, - this is how Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze responded to the sanctioning of "Imedi" and "POSTV" by the United Kingdom for "spreading Russian disinformation."

According to Kaladze's assessment, the sanctioning of these companies is an unfair attitude.

"What disinformation was spread by these television companies? Can you tell me? This means nothing to me what the UK considers or not. I remember years ago, when a foreign bureaucrat said something about Georgia - no matter how nonsensical it was - it was considered the absolute truth; that was the attitude. Today the situation in the country, inside the country, and in the world is absolutely different; you see what processes are going on. There is no legal basis whatsoever... I asked you a question and you couldn't answer. Tell me one specific example of what was spread incorrectly, a lie, etc.?

This attitude in general toward the country is not the first case; this unfair attitude is categorically unacceptable. We respect every country, including EU countries, but they must respect our independence and our sovereignty. Someone may be a bigger country with a bigger economy, but they have no right to interfere in the country's internal political activities. What was said regarding 'Imedi' and 'POSTV' is an unfair attitude. If we delve deep and ask what the problem is, why these specific televisions? There is no answer; there is no argument... What conspiracy theories - listen to the statements and see what processes are going on; what conspiracy theories are you looking for? They speak directly about what, unfortunately, is happening today in Ukraine, in the world, how these processes unfolded, etc.," - stated Kaladze.

For information: According to the British government, sanctions have been imposed on "Imedi" and "POSTV" as organizations "involved in spreading Russian disinformation."

The sanctions imposed by the United Kingdom include asset freezes, prohibition of financial services for managing assets, and director disqualification.

The sanctions document notes that Imedi and POSTV "deliberately spread misleading information to their audience - primarily in Georgia - about Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine."
