Irakli Kirtskhalia: Instead of interfering in freedom of speech in another country, the British government should deal with its own problems - events are developing in such a way that soon there will be neither "Great" nor "Britain" left from Great Britain

Instead of interfering in freedom of speech in another country, the British government should deal with its own problems, the list of which is extremely extensive - starting with the economic stagnation of recent years and ending with extremely severe migration problems, - this is how the leader of the parliamentary majority, Irakli Kirtskhalia, assesses the sanctioning of the television companies "POSTV" and "Imedi" by the United Kingdom.

As Kirtskhalia writes on his Facebook page, "the British government is encroaching on media freedom, which is the handwriting of the 'deep state.'"

"The British government has published a decision to impose sanctions on the television companies 'Imedi' and 'POSTV,' which, together with its so-called justification, is so absurd that making a serious comment on it is pointless.

It is obvious that the same standard of 'fake' that operates in the BBC also operates in the British government. It is precisely as a result of such processes that the British government enjoys an extremely low rating in its own country today. Instead of interfering in freedom of speech in another country, the British government should deal with its own problems, the list of which is extremely extensive - starting with the economic stagnation of recent years and ending with extremely severe migration problems. Events are developing in such a way that, with high probability, soon there will be neither 'Great' nor 'Britain' left from Great Britain, for which we express particular concern and regret. Britain's former Prime Minister Liz Truss boldly states that her state is today controlled by the 'deep state,' that is, the force by which the government controlled by it stormed into the television company 'Imedi' in Georgia on November 7, 2007. As it seems, the 'deep state' had already begun to establish control over Britain in 2007, because we all remember that at that time the British authorities made no comment whatsoever about 'Imedi.' Today, however, the British government not only justifies the encroachment on media freedom but itself encroaches on media freedom, which is the handwriting of the 'deep state.' We wish the British people all the best. Despite the extremely grave trends, we retain hope that Britain will regain its former greatness and that in the times when this state with the greatest history placed special value on national identity, traditions, democratic values, and freedom of speech," - writes Irakli Kirtskhalia on social media.

For information: The United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on the television companies - "Imedi" and "POSTV." According to the British government, sanctions have been imposed on "Imedi" and "POSTV" as organizations "involved in spreading Russian disinformation." The sanctions imposed by the United Kingdom include asset freezes, prohibition of financial services for managing assets, and director disqualification. The sanctions document notes that Imedi and POSTV "deliberately spread misleading information to their audience - primarily in Georgia - about Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine."
