Maka Bochorishvili: In recent days, we have seen an attempt to sanction something Georgian - there is no basis whatsoever for sanctioning Georgian organizations

Georgia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Bochorishvili, states that there is "no basis" for sanctioning Georgian organizations.

Specifically, Bochorishvili noted that in recent days there was an attempt to sanction something Georgian, including discussion of sanctioning a Georgian port, which was avoided because there is no basis whatsoever for sanctioning Georgian organizations.

"This is a continuation of the unfounded and unjust attitude toward Georgia that we have seen in recent years, especially over the last four years. It is also significant that in recent days we have seen an attempt to sanction something Georgian. There was talk of sanctioning a Georgian port, which was prevented for the sole reason that there is no basis whatsoever for sanctioning Georgian organizations, while Georgia meticulously fulfills all the obligations it has undertaken regarding the prevention of sanctions circumvention," — stated the Minister.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also commented on the issue of the sanctioning of "Imedi" and "POSTV" by the United Kingdom.

"As for the sanctioning of television channels, it is unimaginable when, on the one hand, you advocate for freedom of speech, and on the other hand, you target a television channel and moreover bring as an argument that these television channels are popular, have viewers, and have sharers," — stated Maka Bochorishvili, whose comment is disseminated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
