We have enemies who are plotting the destruction of Georgia, and these enemies are supported by internal enemies who serve a certain political goal - a goal that is not in the national interests of Georgia, - the First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament, Gia Volski, said while commenting on the report on Georgia being presented to the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee.

According to him, the wing of the National Movement that is in Brussels is constantly against the policy of the new Georgian government.”

“Rasa Jukneviciene and other Baltic MPs are distinguished by their aggression towards Georgia and even state the reason that the fire lit in Georgia and the South Caucasus should significantly influence at least the diversification of Russian aggression. Also, it should prevent the spread of European aggression in this direction if Russia finds it necessary to use military forces in the South Caucasus. This was the main formula that we heard. This wing of the National Movement, which is in Brussels, is constantly against the policy of the new Georgian government. The reason is that the Georgian government stands on a national position and protects stability in the country.

Rasa Jukneviciene and her supporters came up with the formula that the elections were rigged, that a person who sets fire to the parliament and tries to overthrow the government on the street or by physical force - they are defenders of European interests; if the law affects them - it means a retreat from democracy, etc. When you look at the content, how they talk to us, shamelessly lie and try to mislead the public, the conclusion is the same - we have enemies who are plotting the destruction of Georgia, and these enemies are supported by internal enemies who serve a certain political goal - a goal that does not serve the national interests of Georgia,” said Gia Volski.

In addition, Volski assessed the statements made in the European Parliament and noted that “every word that is said there serves a specific goal - and this goal does not correspond to our national interests.”

“The main topic is Russia. The war is ongoing and they want Georgia to fall heroically in the war and somehow give concessions to those countries that do not want this war to end. The destruction of Georgia serves their political goal. Otherwise, any sane person would easily see that since 2012, Russia has not made any reverence to the Georgian government - on the contrary, we have seen a lot of aggressive actions. Also, the Georgian government has not taken any steps to ensure that Russia's interests are realized in the South Caucasus. No steps have been taken to make these people of incomprehensible political background say anything objectively about Georgia.

The goal is dark and they are predicting a future for Georgia that does not correspond to our national interests. Every word that is said there serves a specific goal - and this goal does not correspond to our national interests, - said Volski.

For information, a report on Georgia is being discussed at a session of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee. According to the draft, the report reflects the fact that "democratic regression in Georgia has intensified even more." The draft report notes that Georgian Dream is “continuing a systematic campaign” against the European Union, officials, and diplomats.
