Israeli Ambassador to Georgia Walid Abu Haya met with Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili. The embassy informed Radio Liberty about the above.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry has not yet released information about the meeting.
For information, Walid Abu Haya stated yesterday that he wanted to meet with members of the Georgian government in light of the developments in Iran.
“There are several thousand Israelis in Georgia now, they like being here. I am sure they are very concerned about what is happening in their homeland, but now the skies over Israel are closed and when flights resume, we will take care of them, there are Georgian citizens in Israel and I want them to know that we are not only protecting our citizens, but also everyone who is in Israel. We are in contact with the Georgian Embassy in Tel Aviv, and they are also in contact with the Israeli Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem. If they need anything, they will receive maximum assistance. In light of the developments, I would like to meet with officials from the Georgian government,” the Israeli ambassador to Georgia said.
In addition, yesterday the Georgian government issued a statement, noting that the Georgian government “expresses its condolences to the Iranian people and the Islamic Republic of Iran, where the ongoing hostilities have claimed the lives of the largest number of people, including the Supreme Leader, other political leaders, many innocent people and dozens of children. The government also expresses its condolences to the friendly Jewish people.”
“The Georgian government expresses its full solidarity with the Gulf Arab countries, with which Georgia enjoys a distinguished partnership. We express our hope that peace will be restored in the Middle East in the near future, for which military actions should be replaced by diplomacy and political dialogue,” the statement said.
