Tata Khvedeliani: If it were possible to take steps toward resetting relations with the USA, the delegation would have been composed of high-ranking officials - we cannot speak of any significant meetings

“If it were possible to take steps toward resetting relations with the USA, the delegation would have been composed of high-ranking officials - we cannot speak of any significant meetings,” stated “For Georgia” MP Tata Khvedeliani to journalists, commenting on the visit of the parliamentary delegation to the USA.

According to her, much more important meetings should be held with the USA, but due to “Georgian Dream,” a very great prospect has been lost.

“We cannot speak of any significant meetings. We cannot talk about a reset policy. If any result were to be brought from those meetings, if steps were being taken toward a reset, I believe this delegation would have been composed of much higher-ranking officials.

Of course, it is good that these meetings are taking place. With our most important strategic partner, not just such meetings, but much more significant ones should be held. For example, meetings like those in Armenia and Azerbaijan, where discussions about their countries are conducted at the level of first persons, while this is happening by bypassing us. 5-6 years ago, for example, during Gakharia’s time, the highest-ranking officials from the USA would come to Georgia and speak about peace in Georgia and Georgia’s benefit in this process. Now we are happy about meetings with senators. Of course, these meetings are good, but we had a very great prospect that we have lost. We lost it because we have ‘Dream’ in the government,” Khvedeliani stated.
