Nikoloz Samkharadze: The main topic of our conversations in Congress was the improvement of relations - we asked congressmen to carefully study the legislative initiatives of individual congressmen so that positive dynamics in our relations are not harmed

“We have concluded our meetings in Congress today — we had the opportunity to speak with five congressmen, mainly members of the Foreign Affairs Committee, but we also met with members of other committees,” stated the Chairman of the Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze, while assessing his visit to the United States.

According to Samkharadze, the discussions during the meetings touched on Georgian-American relations, security issues, ongoing developments in the region, and the development of the Middle Corridor.

“Our last meeting was with Keith Self, who is the Chairman of the Europe Subcommittee, and during the day we also had meetings with Randy Feenstra, Mike Turner, Ryan Zinke, and Anna Paulina Luna.

The main topic of our conversations was, of course, Georgian-American relations once again. Improving these relations and moving them to a new stage. However, we reviewed a wide range of issues, mainly touching on security matters, ongoing developments in our region, and the issue of occupation. We also received information from the congressmen about the events taking place in Iran and their assessment of them. The congressmen were also interested in the issue of the development of the Middle Corridor and Georgia’s role in the Middle Corridor. Accordingly, we had very interesting conversations and dialogues. We asked the congressmen to carefully study the legislative initiatives that individual congressmen occasionally present and which clearly have an anti-Georgian character, so that the positive dynamics that has now appeared in our relations is not harmed,” Nikoloz Samkharadze stated.
