It is obvious that the influence of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Georgia has, unfortunately, gone very far. This is a problem for Georgia. It requires a response, not those publicly known facts that are reviewed in some other research, or yet another research or article, — this was stated by Giorgi Kandelaki, a member of the “Soviet Past Research Laboratory,” to journalists outside Tbilisi City Court.
According to him, it is a serious problem when hundreds of fellow citizens stand on Chavchavadze Avenue, in front of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, holding portraits of Ayatollah Khamenei.
“First of all, this questioning — and the other questionings — were surprising to me, because what remains undeservedly ignored is not the content of this or that research, but the publicly known facts described in this research.
Al-Mustafa University, which is sanctioned because of terrorism, is publicly known, and numerous hearings have been held in the U.S. Congress regarding this. Yesterday we saw that there is apparently a large network in Georgia. It is a serious problem when hundreds of our fellow citizens stand on Chavchavadze Avenue, in front of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, holding portraits of Ayatollah Khamenei and shouting that they are ready to carry out his orders. Ready to carry out what orders? Khamenei’s declared goal was the destruction of the State of Israel and the killing of Americans. What happens if those who shouted yesterday — Georgian citizens who are clearly indoctrinated and clearly believe what they are saying — go and commit something? Who do we turn to then? Therefore, it is obvious that the influence of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Georgia has, unfortunately, gone very far. This is a problem for Georgia. It requires a response, not those publicly known facts that are reviewed in some other research or yet another research and article,” — stated Kandelaki.
When asked why the conducted research was made public now, Kandelaki noted that it was published now because the research had been ready several weeks ago; it was simply going through editing and formatting, and this is just a coincidence.
“It was published now because the research was ready several weeks ago; it was simply going through editing and formatting. This is just a coincidence. The problem is again and again the events listed in this research, and the fact that hundreds of our fellow citizens are shouting on Chavchavadze Avenue right now that they will carry out Khamenei’s orders — that is the immediate threat,” — noted Kandelaki.
For information: Givi Targamadze, Tina Khidasheli, Gubaz Sanikidze, and Giorgi Kandelaki have been summoned for questioning within the framework of an ongoing investigation under Article 319 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to assistance to a foreign country, a foreign organization, or an organization subordinated to foreign control in hostile activities.
