The Strategic Communications Department of the Government Administration is responding to the information raised during televised debates about the purchase of land near Bazaleti Lake by citizens of a foreign country.
As stated in the disseminated announcement, the land plot was transferred into ownership by the Government of Georgia in 2006 to the Public Broadcaster, which subsequently sold the property; later, a private owner sold the land plot to LLC “York Towers,” which is currently called LLC “York Holding Group” and whose 100% share owner is an Egyptian citizen.
“During the televised debates held last Saturday, one of the participants in the program, Zurab Makharadze, disseminated information about the purchase of land near Bazaleti Lake by citizens of a foreign country.
Given the public interest in the topic, we would like to clarify that the aforementioned non-agricultural land plot was transferred into ownership by the Government of Georgia in 2006 to the ‘Public Broadcaster,’ which, in turn, sold the land plot in 2007 to LLC ‘Training Center,’ whose 100% share owner at the time was the company founded by the then-Minister of Economy Kakha Bendukidze - the non-entrepreneurial (non-commercial) legal entity ‘Knowledge Foundation.’ The private owner sold the land plot on December 18, 2019, to LLC ‘York Towers,’ which is currently called LLC ‘York Holding Group’ and whose 100% share owner is an Egyptian citizen,” - the statement reads.
