Maka Bochorishvili: Politicians belong in Parliament - a boycott is harmful only to those who participate in it, and this is agreed upon by everyone who examines the internal political situation in Georgia

Of course, the internal political situation in Georgia following the 2024 parliamentary elections is within the sphere of interest. We all agree that politicians belong in Parliament and that a boycott is harmful, — this was stated by Georgia’s Foreign Minister to journalists after a meeting with the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly delegation at the Government Administration.

According to Bochorishvili, the discussions between the sides also touched on the security environment in the region and the relevant challenges arising from the existing situation.

“The visit of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President is a good fact. It is good that the visit took place, it is good that she had meetings with representatives of the Georgian government and heard information from the first persons about the processes taking place in Georgia that interested her, in connection with the processes taking place in the region.

We had a discussion on the security environment in the region, the situation in the occupied regions, and in general on the challenges existing in the OSCE space.

Of course, the internal political situation in Georgia after the 2024 parliamentary elections is also within the sphere of interest. One thing is clear — we all agree that politicians belong in Parliament and that a boycott is harmful only to those who participate in it, and this is shared by everyone who examines the internal political situation in Georgia,” — stated Maka Bochorishvili.

For information: The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly delegation visited Georgia on March 8 and will conclude its visit on March 10. It is led by OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Pere Joan Pons Sampietro.
