In Georgia you can see what happens when Russia prevails, Marta Kos, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, said when she spoke about the EU enlargement.
According to Kos, Georgia's "autocratic system represses" democratic voices and further distances the country from its European future, while its own people are being deceived into believing that they are leading the country into the EU and that the EU should adapt to them.
"We need to extend the safety net of democracy to our continent. Enlargement is much more than just enlargement. You can see in Georgia what happens when Russia wins. An autocratic system represses democratic voices.
They recently adopted a new law that attacks the democratic and civic space of the country, and further pushes Georgia away from the European future that the majority of its people want.
And they [Georgian Dream] are lying their own people, as if they are bringing the country into the EU and that the EU should adapt to them.
To our Georgian friends, the majority of the Georgian people who value democracy and freedom - we are not giving up on you," Kos said.
