“I served as the Chairperson of the OSCE last year, and I not only followed the developments closely, but also visited Georgia and expressed strong solidarity with the Georgian people, who unfortunately have to live under increasing oppression,” Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen told journalists in Brussels.
According to her, the law adopted in Georgia, which bans the financing of civil society organizations and restricts individual freedoms, represents another step taken in the wrong direction.
“The latest law, which bans the financing of civil society organizations and limits people’s freedoms, is another step in the wrong direction. I am confident that the OSCE, as well as the Moscow Mechanism, will produce the right outcomes, but the European Union must also remain vigilant,” Valtonen emphasized.
