The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Tbilisi expressed condolences to the Georgian Orthodox Church and the people of Georgia on the passing of His Holiness and Beatitude, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II.

“The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Tbilisi sincerely extends its condolences to the Georgian Orthodox Church and the people of Georgia on the passing of His Holiness and Beatitude, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia and Metropolitan of Mtskheta-Tbilisi, Ilia II.

His Holiness will forever remain in memory as the highest moral authority, the spiritual father of the Georgian people, and a symbol of survival in times of trial. May his soul rest in peace,” the statement reads.

For reference, His Holiness and Beatitude, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II, passed away at the age of 93. Following his passing, a period of mourning was declared in Georgia.
