“The criminal Georgian Dream regime has made Georgia an unreliable and high-risk partner,” U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson (Republican Party) wrote on social media.
The congressman noted that additional similar measures will become necessary if Georgian Dream does not change its course.
“Unfortunately, the criminal Georgian Dream regime has turned Georgia into an unreliable and high-risk partner. Georgian Dream has transformed the country into a vector of Chinese influence. More measures like this will become necessary if Georgian Dream does not change course,” Wilson wrote.
For context, on March 18, the U.S. Department of State added Georgia to the list of countries whose citizens may be required to pay a visa bond of up to $15,000 for certain U.S. visas, including tourist visas, due to a “high risk of overstaying.”
