The defense side was appealing that Giga Avaliani fell onto the asphalt backward, face up, as a result of the blow and received the injury during the fall. This was categorically ruled out by the commission of experts, because Avaliani has a frontal bone fracture as a result of a direct blow while standing on his feet, — this was stated to InterpressNews by Ketevan Sonidze, the prosecutor in the case of the deceased teacher Giga Avaliani.
As she explained, today two experts were questioned in the case of the three minors detained in connection with Giga Avaliani's case.
"Today, one of the fundamentally important pieces of evidence was examined — this is the conclusion of the commission forensic medical expertise. The questioned experts confirmed that Giga Avaliani indeed had a frontal bone fracture, which caused his most severe injury, directly linked to his fatal outcome.
It has been categorically established that this injury was inflicted using some hard, blunt object. The expert explains a hard, blunt object as possibly being a human anatomical part, including a hand, fist, foot, or it could also be a stone, brick, piece of wood, etc. In this case, the expert cannot definitively determine what specific type of hard, blunt object was involved.
The defense side was appealing that as a result of the blow, Giga Avaliani fell onto the asphalt backward, face up, and should have received the injury during the fall. However, the commission of experts categorically ruled out a frontal bone fracture in such circumstances, because the injured person's frontal bone is fractured as a result of a direct blow while standing on his feet, and the direction of the infliction was from front to back, not the other way around. As a result of a fall, he should have received an injury in the occipital area — from back to front. In this case, Giga Avaliani has the injury inflicted directly in the frontal area, which means that the attackers were facing him," Sonidze stated.
At this moment, a recess has been announced in the hearing of the said case. From 15:00, the court will question the young people who attempted to help Giga Avaliani at the time of the incident.
