Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Speaker Sahiba Gafarova arrives in Tbilisi to attend Ilia II's funeral

The Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, has arrived in Tbilisi to attend the funeral of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II.

She was met at the airport by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Additionally, the President of the Republic of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan, has arrived in Georgia to pay respects to Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II.

At 15:00, the body of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II, will be carried in a funeral procession on foot from the Holy Trinity Patriarchal Cathedral to the Sioni Patriarchal Cathedral.

For information: The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, passed away at the age of 93. National mourning has been declared in Georgia in connection with the death of Ilia II. The Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, will be buried on March 22 at Sioni Cathedral.
