President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited the Georgian Embassy and expressed condolences over the death of Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II, Azerbaijani media reports.

Aliyev was met at the embassy by Georgian Ambassador Zurab Pataradze.

During his visit to the embassy, ​​Ilham Aliyev made a note in the book of condolences.

The President of Azerbaijan stated that Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness Ilia II, dedicated his life and work to noble affairs and the promotion of interfaith dialogue, and emphasized that his memory will always be honored in Azerbaijan.

Aliyev spoke about the role of His Holiness Ilia II in the development of traditional Azerbaijani-Georgian friendly and cooperative relations.

Zurab Pataradze thanked the President of Azerbaijan for visiting the embassy and expressing condolences.
