Tina Bokuchava - Even now, Georgia's independence is under threat and even now, it is a kind of referendum to preserve our independence - national mobilization is necessary and it is important to expand the protest

It was very important that this announcement took place on March 31, which is the day of the referendum on the restoration of independence - we believe that even now Georgia's independence is under threat and, accordingly, now is also a kind of referendum to preserve our independence - Chairperson of the National Movement, Tina Bokuchava, told journalists, answering a question regarding the announced "national mobilization".

As she noted, "despite the fact that the protest movement is very active and strong, it is important to expand it, not only in Tbilisi, but in each region of Georgia."

"Today, the Opposition Alliance announced a national mobilization campaign. It was very important for us that this announcement took place on March 31, which is the day of the referendum on the restoration of Georgia's independence. In this sense, of course, it is a very important, historical and symbolic day. We believe that even now Georgia’s independence is facing a threat, and accordingly, now is also a kind of referendum to preserve our independence. In order to preserve our independence, not to lose the independence, statehood and freedom gained by many generations, and to successfully pass it on to future generations. For this, national mobilization is necessary, the activation of every citizen of Georgia, reaching out to them, and involvement in the protest movement. Despite the fact that the protest movement is very active and strong, it is important to expand it, not only in Tbilisi, but also in each region of Georgia,” Bokuchava said.

For information, the Opposition Alliance is launching a national mobilization campaign, which will last for 2 months. According to them, the symbolic culmination of the campaign will be May 26, when, on Georgia’s Independence Day, “a large mass rally will be held in Tbilisi.”
