State Security Service - A foreign citizen has been detained who was trying to acquire a large amount of real estate using a fake passport

As Lasha Maghradze, the First Deputy Head of the State Security Service, stated at a briefing held at the agency, the accused attempted to grant a third party the right to dispose of real estate registered in Georgia in the name of a citizen of another country, through a notarial act.

“Employees of the Counterintelligence Department of the State Security Service are intensively carrying out counterintelligence and relevant operational measures in Georgia to identify individuals associated with foreign special services and expose them for various crimes.

As a result of the operational and investigative measures carried out in this direction, we have detained a foreign citizen who is accused of using a fake official document. At the same time, the accused, using a fake passport of a citizen of another country, was trying to acquire a large amount of real estate. In particular, the accused, in the name of a citizen of another country, tried to grant a third party the right to dispose of real estate registered in Georgia by performing a notarial act.

At this stage, the investigation is underway under Article 362, Part Two, Subparagraph “b” and Article 19, Part 3, Subparagraph “b” of Article 180 of the Criminal Code, which provides imprisonment for a term of 6 to 9 years as a punishment," Maghradze said.
