According to Lana Galdava, one of the leaders of “Lelo – Strong Georgia,” it is impossible to restore strategic partnership with the United States “from a clean slate” if “Georgian Dream” does not take corresponding real steps.

As she stated on PalitraNews’ program “Resume,” the success of the process depends entirely on “Georgian Dream,” because “the ball is in their court.”

Galdava said that it is necessary to improve democratic processes, promote depolarization, hold free and competitive elections, release “political prisoners,” and abolish “repressive laws.”

“As for resetting relations and starting from a clean slate, as the spokespersons of ‘Georgian Dream’ say, it is impossible to restore strategic relations without taking real steps. Only ‘Georgian Dream’ has the opportunity to take real steps, because the ball is in their court. If they do not fulfill the conditions necessary for the health of democratic processes, for depolarization, for holding free and competitive elections, for the release of political prisoners, and for the abolition of repressive laws — there is a great deal that needs to be done — the solution lies in their political will to take these steps. If these steps are not taken, the United States will not begin strategic partnership with ‘Georgian Dream’ from a clean slate. If they do take the steps, then the counting of strategic partnership will begin anew.

For America, it is important that there are democratic processes and peace in Georgia,” Galdava stated.

In addition, she highlighted the growing importance of Black Sea security and “Lelo’s” initiative regarding the Anaklia project — to name the Anaklia Port after Trump and make it the gateway of the “Trump Route” to the Western world.

Galdava says she is not occupied with criticizing other political forces and is ready to discuss only those initiatives that offer better plans for the country.

“Interest in the direction of Black Sea security is increasing more and more. Anaklia is precisely a project of geopolitical importance. It is a project of national importance for the country, which should be implemented with American investments. At the same time, it is necessary that all contracts related to this project be public.
