Clash near Parliament: police reportedly detained one person

A verbal and physical confrontation occurred near the Parliament building between protesters and other individuals present at the scene.

According to reports, an unidentified person approached the demonstrators and shouted “Nazis, Nazis,” which provoked irritation among the protesters and led to a confrontation.

Law enforcement officers intervened to defuse the situation. They placed one individual in a police vehicle and removed them from the area. According to protesters, the detained person is Shako Baghdoshvili.

One protest participant stated:“They rushed in for no reason. At the same time, they were making the sign of the cross while physically assaulting a person. When we followed them to at least identify them and inform the police, another individual approached our fellow protester from behind and struck him as well. Law enforcement then detained our fellow protester. These people are pseudo-Orthodox and pseudo-believers - while making the sign of the cross, they were simultaneously committing violence.”

At the moment, police officers have arrived at the April 9 Memorial and are positioned around the area.
