Salome Zourabishvili at the April 9 Memorial: People gave their lives for independence and we will continue this path - “Georgian Dream” is the one selling Georgia and they should not come to this memorial

Georgia’s fifth President, Salome Zourabishvili, visited the April 9 Memorial on Rustaveli Avenue.

As she stated, these are people who sacrificed their lives for Georgia’s independence, and the path of protest will be the same.

“The Georgian people do not wait for anyone to come to the April 9 Memorial and pay tribute to the memory of the fallen. These are people who gave their lives for Georgia’s independence. This is our destiny, and we will continue it. For everyone, this independence is the most precious thing. Those people who were here did not think about it for even a second. They all stood until the end, despite the warnings. They stood and remained. The path of protest will be the same — it will stand until the end, no matter what it costs. Because we will not let these people go. No pasarán — that is our message. No matter how much they come here pretending to pay respect, even if they kneel, it won’t help them. These people [“Georgian Dream”] are the ones who are selling Georgia, selling Georgia’s independence, and are ready to give everything and hand everything over to the Russians for their own enrichment and for the power they do not actually possess. This memorial is exactly the place where they should not come. Not only should they not — they must not come. It is clear how many police officers they need in order to reach here,” Salome Zourabishvili stated.
