The Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched an investigation into the confrontation that took place at the April 9 Memorial on Rustaveli Avenue.

As the MIA told Interpressnews, the investigation was opened under Article 126 of the Criminal Code, which refers to group violence.

According to their information, no one has been arrested by the agency at this stage.

For information: This morning, a verbal and physical confrontation occurred between activists and a citizen in the area adjacent to the April 9 Memorial in front of the Parliament. During the de-escalation of the confrontation, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs removed one activist, Shako Baghdoshvili, from the area.

As other activists present at the scene stated, an unknown citizen approached them and addressed them with “Natsi, Natsi” (referring to members/supporters of the United National Movement), after which a physical confrontation followed.
