A baby, who was hospitalized with serious injuries in early April, has died, three people have been arrested in connection with the case, and the child’s father, a Georgian, is being sought, Polish media reports.
According to them, the 5-month-old baby was brought to the pediatric center in Poznan by his mother, Tamar K., on April 2. The baby was taken to the Karol Jęszer Hospital, but his life could not be saved and he died on April 8.
According to the prosecutor, tests conducted on the young patient confirmed a skull fracture and chronic brain injuries. According to doctors, these injuries may not be the result of a single fall and may have been caused by the actions of a third party over at least several days.
According to the conclusion of the forensic medical expert, the injuries sustained by the baby are serious physical injuries. They were most likely caused by “strong shaking of the baby, hitting his head on hard objects or falling to the floor.”
As part of the ongoing investigation into the case, the child’s mother, Tamar K., and her companions, Aleksandre S. and Vladislav M., were arrested. All three were charged with causing serious harm to the child and failing to provide assistance.
The child’s father, Nazguri K., is also a suspect and is being sought by the police.
The cause of the 5-month-old boy’s death remains unknown at this time. The final conclusion of the examination will be known after additional tests and analysis of full medical records. The investigation is ongoing. Causing serious injury that results in death is punishable by imprisonment for five years to life.
According to Polish media, the child’s parents are citizens of Georgia, while the other two suspects are Moldovan.
