Supreme Court of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic sentences Koba Khabazi to 13 years in prison in absentia

The Supreme Court of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic has sentenced Koba Khabazi to 13 years in prison in absentia, Russian media reports.

According to the Chief Prosecutor's Office of the so-called Donetsk Republic, Koba Khabazi was a mercenary who fought on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"Khabazi was sentenced in absentia to 13 years in a maximum-security colony," the so-called prosecutor's office said in a statement.

The court found that Khabazi entered Ukraine in March 2022 through the Polish border checkpoint and joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He underwent combat training and fought against the Russian Armed Forces until January 2026, receiving more than 3.6 million rubles as compensation for his activities as a mercenary.

Russian media reports that Khabazi is currently under international search.
