The recent legislative changes adopted in Georgia are causing serious concern, said EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos during the ongoing meeting of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs.
According to Marta Kos's assessment, the "progress of candidate countries on the path to EU membership is not uniform."
"The autocratic system of state control over political expression is pushing Georgia even further away from its European future, which is desired by the vast majority of its population. Our goal is for Georgia to remain connected to the European Union, and for us to maintain the ability to protect the interests of the European Union," Kos stated.
