Parliamentary Majority Leader Irakli Kirtskhalia has written an open letter to the EU Ambassador to Georgia.
The MP is responding to the ambassador’s statement yesterday and notes that “such undiplomatic and unfriendly behavior” is categorically unacceptable for the Georgian government.
He also said that as long as the European bureaucracy is subject to informal oligarchic influences, the request to recall Pawel Herczynski would be counterproductive, as Brussels would once again send a loyal representative of these forces in his place.
In addition, Kirtskhalia writes in his letter that maintaining a figure like Herchinsky in Georgia is important in terms of “the population seeing clearly the difference between a Europe run by the “deep state” and a union based on real European values.”
“Mr. Pawel, unfortunately, it seems that during your work in Georgia you have neither gotten to know our country nor our people, and you are purposefully and solely fulfilling the task given to you.
How else can you explain the fact that you call the fact that we in Georgia uphold traditions, respect the sanctity of the family, our religion and identity a return to the dark past? You call the fact that we recognize only two sexes and that same-sex marriage is unacceptable to us, as well as LGBTQ+ propaganda, especially among children, the dark past.
At the same time, it seems that you call returning to the dark past the fact that the Georgian government upholds the constitutional order and laws, and take measures in relation to our fellow citizens and young people who have been brainwashed by the Eurobureaucracy operating under informal oligarchic influence and incited to organize a revolution, whom you call heroes, but in reality, they are victims of the policy pursued against our country by the Eurobureaucracy.”
“Of course, we categorically reject such undiplomatic and unfriendly behavior, but we are not naive and we understand well that even elementary diplomatic ethics would not give you the right to make these and other undiplomatic statements against our country and people, but the handwriting and influence of the “deep state” is clearly felt and read in your actions and statements.
Of course, no one has the illusion that you are carrying out a diplomatic mission in Georgia, therefore, in the past there have been objective reasons for requesting your recall from Georgia more than once, but our state behaves adequately in this case as well and pursues the policy of patience introduced by the Georgian Dream. Within the framework of this policy, we avoid any kind of conflict with the EU member states as much as possible, because maintaining and deepening close, partnership and friendly relations between Georgia and European countries is part of our strategy.
On the other hand, it is obvious that as long as the European bureaucracy is subject to informal oligarchic influences, the request for your recall would be counterproductive, since Brussels would again send a subservient representative of these forces, a person who, like you, does not represent and does not express the opinion and position of the European population”, Kirtskhalia says in his statement.
