Maka Botchorishvili - It is important that certain issues that have accumulated in relations are correctly understood by the Ukrainian side in the same way that we understood them - we agreed that we will have a meeting soon

According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, it is important that certain issues that have accumulated in Georgian-Ukrainian relations over the years are correctly understood by the Ukrainian side in the way that "Georgian society and the Georgian government have understood them".

Maka Botchorishvili spoke about her telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, and positively assessed the initiative, which "comes from the Ukrainian side".

According to Botchorishvili, during the telephone conversation with Sybiha, they agreed that a meeting would also be held.

"Indeed, something has become more active in the Ukrainian side's communication with Georgia. Today, I had a telephone conversation with my Ukrainian colleague.

We agreed that we will continue our relationship, our conversation. There are indeed issues that have accumulated on the agenda.

For a very long time, the Ukrainian side has been talking to Georgia and Georgian society, let's say, through social networks, and at the same time we have heard not very pleasant messages, which is impossible to put aside.

It is important that the initiative comes from the Ukrainian side to sit down and talk about issues, which can already be considered a positive step.

On the other hand, it is also important for us that certain issues that have accumulated in relations over the years are correctly understood by the Ukrainian side in the same way that we, the Georgian society, and the Georgian government have understood them, and that we continue our relationship.

We agreed that we will have a meeting soon and be able to discuss what can be done to return relations between the two countries to normal," Botchorishvili said on Imedi TV.
